Lily finally found out the truth behind what had happened regarding her mother. When Deborah left Lily and T-Ray and came to the Boatright's house, August was expecting to see little Lily but she was alone. Lily was disgusted by this news and said that she hates her. I can't help believe that Deborah must have had some good reason as to why she left Lily with T-Ray. I think that for some reason, she thought that Lily would be better off with T-Ray. Later in chapter 13, Lily comes to realize that maybe her mother did love her after all, although in a more complicated way than Lily originally thought. Why did Lily think this? What do you think of Deborah's decision to leave Lily behind? Would you have done the same? Why or why not?

  1. I think that Deborah left Lily with T-Ray, so T-Ray would have somebody to live with, but I would have done the same thing, because Lily was so young and Lily would have just slow her down.
