fraternity house or mothers

As they have stayed at this for a week now is Lily starting to see these people as mothers. Although it is still early to tell and they are still early on their adventure to find Lily's Mom but could it be instead of finding her Mom a bond forms between all the girls and they all raise Lily to a certain extent. Perhaps this is why metaphorically the story revolves around a bees hive is thats what there comparing to te house of all the girls. Any thoughts?
