Parallelism

We all know what the novel title means; how a beehive is a microcosm for our big world. As Lily becomes more interested in beekeeping she starts to notice what it does to her soul. As her experience with this new hobby of hers has increased do you think she has noticed the parallelism between a beehive and the large community she lives in? If so, how do you think this idea would help her in life?

  1. I feel like she doesn't realize the similarities between her life and that of a bee's in a beehive. To me it seems the author is making the connection for the reader to notice but with Lily still oblivious to it. But I think she would be far better off if she could see the similarities because being able to look in on your life from the outside would give her a whole new perspective on life and her search for her mother.
