What do the characters all think of the de-segregation protests?

I'm curious as to what everyone thinks about the characters' views on racial inequalities at the time. Obviously none of them would be happy with it, but both Rosaleen and August have commented about the protests being more trouble than they're worth which makes me wonder. I feel like Zack and possibly Lily are all for the protests but what about Rosaleen, August and June? Are they secretly hoping for changes to happen but they just don't want to have trouble in town because of people getting riled up? That was a common thought at the time so and it seems like they feel that way.
