Lily the Liar

Lily is a liar. Why does she lie? In the past she has done this for many reasons (to get out of a bad situations, just for the heck of it, ect.) But why does she lie to the sisters? Does she have something to hide? Or is she too scared to find out the truth behind her mother? What motive do you think Lily has while she continues to lie?
